My Filming Setup

Thanks for stopping over and checking out my filming set-up. I’m often asked how I film art videos as there are so many ways to set-up an art filming spot.

Today I’m going to share some insights from my personal experience on filming art videos. I want to cover how important it is to have consistent lighting and freedom of movement. My setup includes two Sony ZV-1 Digital Cameras as well as tabletop visual props like my Bessie Bakes Photography Backdrops. I also use a NEEWER Mini Tripod that allows me to move the camera from one stand to another. An Elgato Stream Deck gives me access to buttons that allow for a scene / camera change with the push of a button. I’ve also got a couple IKEA LINNMON/ ADILS Desk Tables. I’ve found the wireless Rode Wireless Go II microphones to be fabulous for ease of movement and they pick up my quiet voice. Outside of the above I’ve got a lot of lighting technology as well as computer tech.

So here it goes.

I film and post videos to YouTube, Rumble, Instagram and for classes on Skillshare.

Lighting, sound and room space all come into play on how a person sets-up their artsy filming space. I’ve got a nice size studio… Of course, it could be bigger, but I’m satisfied with my art studio. I mainly use one wall on the window side to record and the rest of the space to organize my supplies.

Here are most of the items I have been using for my art studio filming setup as of February 2023. To make things easier I now 90% of the time use a wireless microphone setup that I describe below by Rode. This means I can get up from the desk without pulling a cord or having a huge microphone that requires directional talking. YAY, for wireless and mini microphones aka lavalier microphones.
